How was Social Knowledge Management in an Academic Research Environment?
My comments from the last Meetup meeting May 27th 2010
The meeting was very good. I enjoyed Kims presentation. It was light, informative and revealing. I came away from the meeting with a very positive impression of the people working together to forge a new world of opportunity, to change, to adapt and to make the new workplace competitive.
Academia reaches out to scholars to teach others in a prescribed proven way. Its foundation is fundamental and proven. It’s intellectual capital is the hallmark of our society and the impetus of our success as an economy and as a society.
I can only look back into recent history. The printing industry had an important class of professionals known as typesetters and proofers. Who are they now?
I see technology putting knowledge back into the hands of the knowledge holder.
The world of learning for credit will be around for a very long time. However, a new class of multilingual experiential knowledge will proliferate out of control akin to spam a few years ago. How will we sort out the good from the bad. Academia will need to reinvent itself soon to keep its lead and stay in control.
I believe, it’s all about Academia working closely with its communities to help them build affordability, capacity and sustainability to keep us all competitive in this new world of digital information.
Very interesting meeting.
